W.J. Childs Diary, 1913
Scope and Contents
The W.J. Childs diary is a small black book with Northern Commercial Co. embossed on the front. In it he kept notes on daily activities and events for October and November of 1913. The diary also includes some names and addresses.

Biographical
W.J. Childs was a trapper in the Bremner areas north of Katalla, Alaska, in the fall of 1913. The diary was found among the personal effects of Robert H. Burns who came to Alaska in 1898 and lived here until 1961. Robert H. Burns died at 108 years old in about 1972.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The collection was donated by Mrs. Helen Burns to the Juneau Douglas City Museum. It was then transferred to the Alaska State Library Historical Collections. It is accessioned as 1994-023.
