Scope and Contents
Log book of the Steamer Nenana, a sternwheeler, documenting scheduled service between Nenana on the Tanana River and Marshall on the Yukon River, seven to nine trips per season, from 1933 through 1935. Notes landings, soundings, stops and reasons, times arrived and departed, and wood yard stops, noting amount and owner of wood. 1939 entries cover trips 7-9 (Aug. 13 - Oct.1); 1949 entries calendar preparation of "301" and "401" barges (April 24 - May 11) at "R.R. City - Winter Quarters".

Biographical / Historical
The sternwheel, steamboat Nenana was commissioned to be built by the Alaska Railroad. The Nenana was built in the town she was named after during the winter of 1932-33 and launched in 1933. The Alaska Railroad retired the Nenana from service in 1954. In 1965, as part of the Alaska Purchase Centennial Celebration, the Nenana was moved to Alaska 67 Centennial Park, later named Alaskaland Park, in Fairbanks for permanent display.
