Scope and Contents
The photographs collected by Captain Luebben include Fort Liscum grounds and army personnel (three panoramic views of the fort and soldiers), ships, and Keystone Canyon. Community views include Juneau, Valdez, Ruby and Telegraph Creek, B.C. Photographs were taken by Winter and Pond Co., Case and Draper, J.E. Thwaites, Private Basil Clemons, U.S.G.N.A., Post Photographer at Fort Liscum and others. News clippings of Valdez events are included at the end of the file. The collection is arranged by subject.

Biographical
Gerold Edward Luebben was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1895. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin. In World War I he was drafted and stationed first at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, then took command of the army post at Fort Liscum near Valdez, Alaska. After the war he was sent to Rockford, Illinois where he resigned from service.
