Records of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Juneau, Alaska, 1897?-1975
Scope and Contents
The records pertain to both the Hall of Alaska Lodge A-1 and the Hall of the Silver Bow Lodge No. 2. The volumes, mostly bound, include minutes, benefits records, and membership rosters, which contain officer and committee lists, brief notes on activities, and guest registers. There are also cash books, check books and Register of annual reports which record the financial activities of the lodges. The membership books list some personal data, such as occupation, age, death, etc. Many of the bound volumes are in fragile condition and have mold or water damage.
One publication, Floor work for subordinate lodge degrees...1909, was placed at the end of the collection.

Historical
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows was a social and charitable organization which, with the affiliated Daughters of Rebekah (see Ms 123), were active in local and statewide projects. In the Juneau, Alaska, area the Hall of Alaska Lodge A-1 first organized in Douglas city around the turn of the century. In the 1930s, the Douglas I.O.O.F. lodge merged with the Hall of the Silver Bow Lodge No. 2, which had been operating in Juneau concurrently. The Silver Bow Lodge was active until 1985. The group's Juneau building was sold in 1980, by the Grand Lodge of the I.O.O.F., of Tacoma, Washington.

The records were donated by Niels Finn Larsen of Juneau, through Betty Miller in May 1993.
Processing Information
The records were sorted according to lodge and record type in chronological order. One ledger was moved to Ms 123, Daughters of Rebekah, an affiliated group. The volumes were vacuumed and dry wiped, some wrapped in acid-free tissue.
