Journal and letters of Col. Charles S. Bulkley during the U.S. Army Telegraph Trail Expedition, 1865-1867, which attempted to survey a route for the Western Union Telegraph Company to lay a line to Europe via Alaska and Siberia. Volume 1 includes map (very fragile).

Biographical
In 1864 Colonel Charles Bulkley, a former Superintendent of Military Telegraphs, was called upon to supervise the Western Union Telegraph Company Overland project.
