Historical Note
Mr. Heald had in his possession a number of photographs (56), that were taken in Alaska around the First World War era. He found the photographs in an old photograph album, in Menlo Park, California, about 35 miles south of San Francisco, but there was no name in the album and Mr. Heald had no idea who or where the people are.
Some of the postcard photographs are marked Koggiung, Kvichak, Naknek, Nushagak and Unalaska.
Certain faces occur on some of the photos, again and again, and it appears that the photos were taken of and by a particular family. Some identifications of people and places were added by John Branson and then Mel Monsen; see Scope and Contents Note.
