Biographical
John Leedy was the Governor of Kansas who, after losing his re-election bid in 1899, retired briefly from politics. After working in the mining industry and serving as director of the Leedy Mining Co, he moved to Valdez, Alaska in 1901. He served as mayor for 2 years. J.W. Leedy later became a naturalized citizen of Canada. [Information from notes of Barbara L. Munton]

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The collection is the gift of Barbara Munton. Folder 1 and 3 were donated in 2005. Folder 2 was donated in 2008.
Processing Information
The collection has been processed at the item level. The photographs were placed in Mylar. All items were placed in acid free folders and then into an archival box.
