Biographical / Historical
On June 26, 1917 this organization formed as the Southeastern Alaska Fish and Game Club at Juneau. The club worked for the protection and propagation of game food fish and game and saw that laws governing fish and game were not violated; petitioned federal and territorial legislative bodies to enact laws for the protection of fish and game; established hatcheries and scientific help to fill lakes and streams. In 1917 over 170,000 young trout were grown at Thane and planted in Southeast lakes. The officers in 1917 were Charles Goldstein, President, Charles E. Davidson, Vice President, Charles D, Garfield, Secretary-¬Treasurer; also A. J. Sprague, fish culturist assisted the club.
