N. E. "EJ" Jordan Photograph Collection, ca. 1917-1972
Content Description
The photographs and postcards include the Leona K, a fishing boat, the Falcon, a converted purse seiner, a portrait of N. E. "EJ” Jordan, fish drying, and a hunting party boarding a plane in Ward Cove. Jordan’s time in Alaska includes 1917-1972. The donor, Albert E. Helzner, describes “EJ” as a “colorful individual who possibly made a significant contribution to the history of the state of Alaska.”

Biographical / Historical
N. E. “EJ” Jordan was, at various times, a buyer-tallyman for Libby’s and from 1919-1921 he was captain of the Leona K, a 110-foot seagoing towboat. In 1921 he had 13 sled dogs and ran the Dawson City Race. Later, he lived in Yucaipa CA.
