In 1919 the Governor of Alaska requested information from the U.S. Department of Interior, regarding names and biographies of persons involved in Alaska's development from 1867-1885. A list of names of Navel Officers and ships on which they served was provided by the Navy Department. The War Department provided military biographies on ninety-five officers serving in Alaska from 1867-1917.
