Kodiak community oral history project, 1971-1984.
Scope and Contents
This collection includes 20 transcripts of interviews with 17 people on such topics as Kodiak during World War II, the Baptist and Russian missions, Aleut basketry, village life, midwifery, native foods and medicine, folk stories, and Kodiak geography. Interviewees include: Julie Knagin, Barbara and Ken Hockmuth, Frieda Reft, Ella Chabitnoy, Katherine Chichenoff, Anfesia Shapsnikoff, Sister Hilary, Carmel Schumacher, Dr. Bob Johnson, Larry Matfay, Sophia Simeonoff, Martha Kahutak, Simon Pletnikoff, Annie Boskfsky, Eunice Neseth, and Betty Springhill.
