Biographical / Historical

Dogs were a very important part of the town economy. Huslia's racers, starting with Jimmy Huntington became a real force in Alaska dog racing both in Fairbanks and Anchorage. Fishing for dog food in the summer was a serious business with the families and they moved out of town to fish camp when the fish were running.
