Scope and Contents
The album contains 67, mounted, black and white images (7 ¼” x approximately 9 ½”) taken by Glen McCreary, George Noland, and Michael Strong from 1941 to1945 while serving as U.S. Signal Corps photographers in Alaska. The images depict Seward, Fairbanks, Mt. McKinley Hotel, the Alcan (Alaska) Highway, the Yukon River, boats, birds, wildlife and Alaska scenes. Some of the photographs were captioned by the photographers. Other information about the photos was transcribed from Post-It notes McCreary placed in the album. The nature pictures were taken by Michael Strong. No negatives were donated with the collection.
